To : Club Secretary
Subject: Cricket in England
Respected Sir,
As I mentioned above that I am interested
to play in your club in England. I
would like to get registered from your
club and want to play for the coming
season in England. I am resident of
Islamabad in Pakistan, and playing
professionally form many organizations.
Pakistani all rounder AZHAR MEHMOOD was
also playing from our club. I am also all
rounder (Right hand upper order
batsmen & Right arm off break bowler).
I am registered player from Islamabad
Cricket Association since 1987-88, and
played many tournaments. I would like to
play at least for one season. I am
selected for South Africa Cape Town for
the last season but due to some domestic
problems I can't visit there, but I can
mail u my letters of sponsorships from
Cape Town for your kind consideration. I
can also send u my newspaper cutting etc.etc.
I am already playing 1st class cricket
here in Pakistan. I have done umpiring
course held in Islamabad. I am also
coaching the players who are under 14-16
& 19 years of age in the local
community schools. I hope that it will be
a good step to promote and learn cricket
in the other part of the world. It will
be good step for the development of
Cricket Game.
Sincerely,
Sajjad Ahmad 16.01.02

Why don't you run a 'What do they do in
winter' series on the SNOBCC web
site.?
You could ask thought provoking questions
such as:
Which beach will Tom & Norma Walton
be sitting on over the Christmas
period.?
Is it true that Stuart Mann is studying
for another degree on the Open
University so that he can become the
cleverest chap in the club.?
How does a married man with children find
an excuse to get out of the house
in winter for at least 8 hours on his own.?
How long will it take Granville to walk
to Huddersfield Towns away match
with Brighton.?
Is the rumour true that Huddersfield
Electronics are sponsoring Wakefield
Trinity Wildcats next season and part of
the deal is that every player gets
a personal radio which he can listen to
whilst playing.???
Will BIG get a recording contract with
Apple now the remaining Beatles have
confirmed they will never play together
again in public.??
Will Andy Deighton ever get past the
audition for Pop Idol.?
I am sure there are a lot more questions
to be asked between now and next
April.

Hi Andy,
Just viewed some of the SNOB site
absolutely brilliant - Although it is
some 12 years since I have left the area
and last played cricket for the
club, it seems as though it was only like
yesterday. It is good to be
able to see some of the old faces on the
site. I can see you are are all
as crazy as I remember you. Give my best
to Mick & Chris Walker Tom
Walton , Foxy, Chris Mallinson if he
still around and Graham Herbert
and all the rest.
Hope to get up to see you sometime at
least having a daughter living in
Edgerton should not be too difficult.
All the best
Mike Shorthose (6.9.01)
>> It's great to hear
from ex-SNOB's - you are cordially
invited to the Annual
Dinner on October 13th
Dear Andy
Happened upon your website and thought I
would drop you a line. Not sure if
you remember me and my Dad, Anna &
Mike Shorthose - he had one of the
highest batting averages at the time and
I was "the scorer extraordinaire".
How are you all doing? Saw that
Chris Mallinson is still at it, and Tom
Walton, talk about blasts from the past.
Is Graham Herbert still around and
how on earth is Steve doing?
As you may have deduced I am living in
Cyprus now with my husband and 3
children and my Dad is in Derby. He
is thinking of playing for the local
veterans team next season, but you know
what he is like, hangs up his boots
at the end of every season never to play
again, however, he has promised me
that he won't go knocking over any stumps
in his displeasure at a bad
decision.
Hope you are all well, and it would be
lovely to hear from you all
Take care

Andy,
I am a colleague of Colin Hemingway, he
and I were looking at your SNOB's
Website (very good by the way) and this
message is what we sent as part of
the vote. Colin wanted to vote for 50
run's.The message must have been
garbled in the process.

Liked the web site. I know that you guys
have fun with the best of us
and I found your web site fun.
You may be pleased to know that the
mighty Southowram 2nd XI destroyed
your neighbours and arch rivals
Augustinians on Sunday in the race for
the Crossley Shield final.
Your links page has the wrong URL for
Southowram Cricket Club. Please
update the link to http://www.southowramcc.co.uk. I will add a link
to
your site when I add content to our site.

We play them this weekend and hopefully
can do the same !!

Chris, now I can see where you get your
good looks from
Deets,
I've been looking into incorporating
stump-cam into SNOB games - this
would provide live coverage of what it is
like to bat in the middle.
I think this would be very useful for
members of the team such as Tommo,
and Stuart Mann, who are feeling a bit
left out when everyone else gets a bat.
I am evaluating the new miniature SONY
product on the market, and would
like some feedback from Web users.
Can you post this test on the Web-site?
thanks,
Andy Holding (5.7.01)
>>
I'll put this on soon...
Deets,
for those who aren't working at home
during the Ashes series...
Channel 4 is proud to announce the
arrival of Desktop Richie Benaud in
time for the Ashes series.
Offer Richie a home on your computer
desktop and he'll be happy to alert
you whenever a wicket falls, the players
leave the field or a batsman
reached three figures.
There'll be plenty of cheerful comments
from the great man to keep you in
touch during each day's play, and regular
messages to ensure you don't
miss anything from the most keenly-anticipated
test series for years.
You can get Desktop Richie at www.cricket4.com/tv/richie.html

Thanks Andy, but we'd all like to forget

I've pointed a few people to the Web site.

Thanks Andy - I played this cricket game
3 times and didn't score a single run,
therefore it is obviously Virtual Reality!!
If you can beat the SNOB topscore of 0
from 3 tries then e-mail me. SNOB top
score will recieve 5 Budweisers followed
by a date with Yvonne Fox (Barry Hodgson
is bound to win).
Deets, here's some info you might find
useful for the website. I have lifted the
names of founding members from Ken
Ellis's cash book records. Sorry I do not
know all the full
Christian names but I am sure Tom will if
required.

Thanks Harry, as soon as I get more
information I'll create the history of
the club web pages - however I need this
from Tom, and I'm not sure that he's
still speaking to me after I told him to
shove his club up his arse on Saturday
night!!

Apparently 5 men matching this
description are wanted for questioning by
West Yorkshire Police, relating to an
incident with a steward...
Several weeks ago, whilst enjoying a beer
at Snobs CC, I heard a quite
unusual phrase. Now I have heard of a
googly and a flipper before but for
some reason I was called a knobcheese by
yourself (the ed). Could you please
tell me if this is a common cricketing
term.
Bob Sowerby (18.6.01)
>>
Bob, this is actually now a very rare
cricketing term, however apparently Shane
Warne does occasionally deliver it to
Pakistani gentlemen.
Deets, can I suggest a SNOB Merchandise
shop on the Website.
Opportunities to make this Website PAY.
We could put such things on it as:
SNOB Cricket Cap
SNOB Cricket Jumper - Short Sleeve, Long
Sleeve, available in S, M, L, XL
and Chris Walker Sized
SNOB Stumpers "Hook" - new
innovation as an alternative to the more
traditional gloves. As used by I
Kenworthy in the First Team last Saturday.
